Dinner in Frankfurt with Silicon Valley Bank

In the beginning of May, we met in Frankfurt for our regular fintexx – women in finance dinner. The event was co-hosted by Silicon Valley Bank, and was opened by Iris Bleck (Director, Germany, Credit, Risk and Compliance, Silicon Valley Bank) and Dr. Carolin Gabor (CCO, finleap).

Following that, Erin Platts (Head of EMEA and President of the UK Branch, Silicon Valley Bank) and Sonya Iovieno (Head of Venture and Growth Banking, UK, Silicon Valley Bank) provided insight on how to finance the innovation economy. The conversation developed into an exchange about the similarities and differences between the European, US and Asian markets.

In a smooth transition, Birgit Storz (Member of Financial Services Practice Group Germany and Global Co-Leader FinTech Segment, Egon Zehnder) spoke on the topic of the hiring market in the fintech sector. Prior to working for Egon Zehner, she worked for Commerzbank, and then decided to take on the challenge of a brand new field. With her passion and experience, she now works with young talents on the one hand and traditional departments on the other.

Last but not least, Jessica Holzbach (Co-Founder & CCO, Penta) showed us her journey as a founder and her lessons learned along the way, including addressing the failure of her first startup. With her open mind and smart thinking, she opened the conversation again to discussing working in a male-dominated branch.

The dinner brought together a range of fintexx women from different paths. We discussed our experiences, whilst enjoying a great meal at the Fleming’s Selection Hotel, Restaurant “Lug ins Land”.

Special thanks to our partner SVB, our speakers and our wonderful guests!

Hope to see you soon again!
